First Win Ever in Daytona
Even casual race fans know about Daytona, as the International Speedway there is one of the most famous tracks in the world. If you’re a true racing aficionado, you were glued to your seat in January to see the thrilling end to the four-hour race. That’s when the No. 76 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Denis Dupont and Preston Brown, crossed the finish line. Just a fraction of a second later, they were joined by the No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, helmed by Mark Wilkins and Bryson Morris. This marked the first time that Hyundai has come out on top in Daytona.
Another Victory in Florida
In March, Hyundai scored another win in Florida. This one was at the Alan Jay Automotive 120, which took place at the Sebring International Raceway. This race was full of intrigue, along with some controversy. The No. 33, No. 76, and No. 98 cars were all in contention, with the No. 33 leading most of the way. However, a penalty on the No. 76 car resulted in it falling behind. When the race ended, it looked as though Hyundai had again claimed both the first- and second-place finishes, with the No. 33 crossing the line first. However, due to a post-race technical violation, the No. 33 car was disqualified. As a result, the No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, driven by Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker, became the winner.
Double Podium Finish
Hyundai had another strong finish at Watkins Glen in June in the IMSA Michelin® Pilot Challenge. Driving for the Victor Gonzalez Racing Team in the No. 99 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, Eric Powell and Tyler Gonzalez secured a second-place finish. Piloting the No. 98 were Parker Chase and Harry Gottsacker, and they finished right behind in third place.
