While social media has its merits, it’s also created its fair share of problems, many related to vehicles. A recent TikTok challenge involved people stealing Hyundai cars, but fortunately, it didn’t take long for the company to respond. Here our Hyundai dealership discusses the brand’s latest security initiative.
Anti-Theft Deterrent
If your Hyundai vehicle doesn’t already have a built-in immobilizer, you will especially appreciate this update. Hyundai will now provide you with free theft-deterrent software to do two things.
First, if someone tries to steal your car, the alarm will sound and stay on for a minute. But even better, nobody can use a foreign tool or device to start your vehicle; it will only turn on if the key is in the ignition switch.
A Visible Warning to Would-Be Car Thieves
In addition to the software updates, Hyundai will also send you a window sticker. This will alert potential car thieves that your car has this anti-theft protection and that they shouldn’t bother trying to steal it.
What to Know About Updating Your Hyundai Vehicle
Hyundai has already started rolling out the software updates, and they will continue to do this over the next several months. The company has also partnered with local law enforcement agencies to offer steering wheel locks to drivers. If you haven’t gotten a lock but would like one, contact the police department in your area to see if they are available.
