Did you know that last year’s Hyundai IONIQ 5 was awarded electric vehicle of the year by Car and Driver? A new model year brings new accolades, with the publication naming the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 a 10Best car in its class. If you’re shopping for an electric SUV, find out why the Hyundai IONIQ 5 could be perfect for you.

Excellent Powertrain Options

The base Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes with a 125-kW electric motor and a 58-kWh battery pack that combine to put out 168 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. You’ll also have your choice of two other powertrains:

  • 168-kW electric motor and 77.4-kWh battery pack: 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque
  • Dual electric motors with a combined 239-kW and a 77.4-kWh battery pack: 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque

Great Driving Range and Fast Charging

With the Standard Range powertrain, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 can go up to 220 miles on a single charge. With the Long Range model, that increases to 303 miles. You’ll be able to get your Standard Range Hyundai IONIQ 5 fully charged in about six hours with a 240-volt household-style power outlet, and the Long Range takes another hour. With DC fast charging, you can get your battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes.

Ample Passenger Room

Another reason why Car and Driver likes the Hyundai IONIQ 5 so much is because it has a huge cabin. There is plenty of space for five people, and both rows offer tons of head- and legroom. Plus, heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat are standard.
