If you’re a new parent, you have several things to consider, many of which will involve a learning curve. Car seats can be especially confusing, especially when you put them in for the first time. Fortunately, if you’re looking to buy a car for your expanding family, all Hyundai models come equipped with the LATCH system, and Keyes Hyundai will show you how it works.

What Is the LATCH System?

The LATCH (Lower Anchor and Tethers for Children) system is designed to simplify securing a child seat in your vehicle. It minimizes movement while the car moves, reducing what would otherwise be a significant safety hazard to drivers and their kids.

Correctly Using the LATCH System

No matter which type of child seat you have, your Nissan vehicle can secure it in place. Using the LATCH system, you can keep your child securely in place.

  • Locate the anchors: Your Hyundai model’s back seats will have a pair of anchors in the seat cushions that connect to the child seat.
  • Attach the seat: Attach the straps and latches to the anchors.
  • Install the top tether strap: Front-facing child seats require an additional step, attaching to a top tether for added security.

Once you’re done, test the connection by moving the car seat. If it doesn’t budge more than an inch, you’re all set!
