2018 Hyundai Sonata Details
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata was due for a mid-generation redesign, and it comes right on schedule. There's a new look and plenty of new tech to spare.
Let's start with what's the same. The engines (see sidebar) carry over from last year. The trim levels also remain consistent.
But there's a lot that's new. The exterior is updated from bumper to bumper. The new cascading grille that we first saw on the Hyundai Kona makes an encore appearance here, and the headlights and taillights are also updated. The sheet metal is also refreshed.
Both transmissions are new. One is an eight-speed automatic, and the other is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. New lighting and wheel choices are also on tap.

Safety Features: There's a major safety update this year. Many active safety features that had been optional are now standard equipment on all trim levels. That includes blind spot detection, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking. No wonder it gets a five-star NHTSA safety rating and an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus! |

2018 Hyundai Sonata Special Features
Love technology? We hope so, because the 2018 Hyundai Sonata, like most new Hyundai cars, is loaded with it. The Hyundai Blue Link infotainment system gets a larger touchscreen this year, making it the centerpiece of the redesigned dashboard.
There's more. Blue Link is updated with Amazon Echo and Google Home compatibility. It's also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Wireless phone charging and a rear-passenger USB port are standard.
